Allison Smith, Ph.D.
Allison Smith, Ph.D., is a post-doctoral fellow who provides evidence-based psychotherapy to adults and older teens with bleeding disorders. Prior to joining the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center of Puget Sound, she developed broad experience in treating anxiety and overcontrol, trauma, women’s issues, and personality disorders. She also developed a particular specialty working LGBT+ clients in therapy.
Dr. Smith graduated with her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas in 2023. During graduate school, she received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and conducted research focusing on gender, sexuality, and intimate partner violence. Her academic contributions have included peer-reviewed publications related to victimization and resilience, as well as presentations at regional, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Smith completed her pre-doctoral internship at James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital in Tampa, FL, where she specialized in treating veterans with personality disorders and high suicidality. She is supervised in her postdoctoral work by Dr. Sean Ransom, CBT Puget Sound’s clinical director, and is also affiliated with the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center of New Orleans.
