Sean Ransom, Ph.D.
Dr. Sean Ransom, Executive Director and Founder of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Center of Puget Sound, brings a unique blend of high-level academic research and specialized clinical practice to two distinct areas: AI-related psychological distress and the psychology of hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
Specialized Expertise in AI-Related Psychological Health
Dr. Ransom’s major focus is on the psychological impact of Artificial Intelligence and advanced technology. This specialization is backed by his recent research, including published work on how Large Language Models (LLMs) violate ethical standards in mental health practice, as well as a keynote address on AI-assisted psychotherapy. This places him at the forefront of clinical practice regarding AI-induced anxiety, digital trauma, and algorithmic stress.
Academic and Clinical Foundation
Beyond his private practice, Dr. Ransom is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the LSU Health Sciences Center. His clinical background is deeply rooted in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). In 2025, Dr. Ransom completed a certification program in Generative AI from the Harvard Data Sciences Initiative.
Multidisciplinary Approach
As the head of a multi-state network of CBT clinics, Dr. Ransom is committed to integrated care. His practice at CBT Puget Sound continues its vital partnership with the Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD), to provide specialized psychosocial support for those with hematological disorders. He is licensed to practice psychology in Hawaii, Louisiana and Washington State, as well as an inter-jurisdictional certification that allows him to practice remotely in more than 40 additional states. Finally, Dr. Ransom holds a masters in clinical psychopharmacology and practiced as a prescribing psychologist in Louisiana for 12 years, experience and training that allows him to consult competently with physicians regarding his patients’ medications.
